LAHORE: Yawar Saeed has resigned as manager of the Pakistan cricket team, a Pakistan Cricket Board statement said on Monday.

Saeed’s resignation has been accepted by PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt, the statement added.

“I will not take charge as manager of the national team again,” Saeed was quoted as saying by local television channels.

News of his resignation emerged during Pakistan’s recently concluded tumultuous tour of England but he denied them, saying it was the job of the PCB chief to decide his future.

The recent tour of England was overshadowed by allegations of spot fixing by Pakistan players.
The International Cricket Council charged and suspended three Pakistan cricketers after allegations they received money to bowl no-balls at predetermined times.
